Rotel RB-985 5 Ch Power Amplifier (240v)

The Rotel RB-985 is a 5-channel power amplifier designed to deliver high-quality amplification for home theater and multi-channel audio systems. The RB-985 provides amplification for up to five channels, making it suitable for powering a full surround sound system in a home theater setup. Each channel typically delivers ample power to drive a range of speakers, including front, center, and surround channels. This amplifier typically offers robust power output per channel, providing sufficient headroom for dynamic audio playback. The exact power output may vary depending on the impedance and sensitivity of the connected speakers. The RB-985 likely utilizes Class AB amplifier topology, which combines the efficiency of Class B amplifiers with the low-distortion performance of Class A amplifiers. This results in high-fidelity sound reproduction with minimal distortion and noise. Rotel is known for using high-quality components in their audio equipment, and the RB-985 is no exception. It likely features premium-grade capacitors, resistors, and other electronic components to ensure reliable performance and sonic accuracy. Some versions of the RB-985 may offer bridgeable channels, allowing you to combine two channels to drive a single speaker with higher power output. This feature can be useful for powering a dedicated subwoofer or a bi-amplified speaker setup. The amplifier typically features both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs for connecting to a preamplifier or AV receiver. It also provides binding post speaker terminals for secure connections to the speakers. Rotel amplifiers are known for their solid build quality and durability. The RB-985 likely features a robust chassis construction and efficient heat dissipation design to ensure reliable operation even under heavy use. To safeguard the amplifier and connected speakers, the RB-985 may include protection circuitry such as thermal protection, short circuit protection, and DC offset protection. These features help prevent damage to the amplifier and ensure safe operation. Rotel products often feature a sleek and understated design aesthetic, with clean lines and a minimalist approach to controls and indicators. The RB-985 is likely no exception, with a design that blends seamlessly into any home audio setup.
