Sennheiser MKE 440 Compact Stereo Shotgun Microphone

The Sennheiser MKE 440 Compact Stereo Shotgun Microphone is a professional-grade microphone designed to capture high-quality stereo audio with exceptional clarity and precision. The MKE 440 features a unique dual-microphone design, with two aligned shotgun microphones that capture audio from the front and sides. This configuration creates a stereo image with enhanced spatial accuracy and realism, making it ideal for capturing immersive soundscapes in a variety of recording situations. Each microphone element features a supercardioid pickup pattern, which provides excellent directivity and off-axis rejection. This allows the MKE 440 to capture sound from the front while minimizing noise and interference from the sides and rear, resulting in clean and focused recordings. The MKE 440 has a compact and lightweight design that makes it easy to mount on cameras, camcorders, or boom poles. Its small footprint and low profile ensure minimal impact on the overall size and weight of your recording setup, making it ideal for mobile and run-and-gun filmmaking. The MKE 440 is powered by plug-in power (also known as bias voltage) supplied by compatible recording devices, eliminating the need for batteries or external power sources. This simplifies setup and ensures reliable operation, even in remote or outdoor recording environments. The microphone features a switchable low-cut filter that helps reduce low-frequency rumble and wind noise, allowing for cleaner and more intelligible recordings. The low-cut filter is particularly useful when recording outdoors or in windy conditions, helping to improve overall audio quality. The microphone elements are shock-mounted within the housing to minimize handling noise and vibrations. This ensures that mechanical disturbances, such as handling and movement, are isolated from the microphone, resulting in cleaner and more professional-sounding recordings. The MKE 440 includes an integrated foam windshield that helps reduce wind noise and plosive sounds, such as "p" and "b" sounds, during recording. The windshield provides basic protection against light wind and environmental noise, allowing for clearer and more natural-sounding recordings in outdoor or challenging acoustic environments. The microphone features dual 3.5mm TRS (tip-ring-sleeve) outputs for easy connection to cameras, camcorders, audio recorders, and other compatible recording devices. This allows for convenient stereo recording without the need for additional adapters or cables. The MKE 440 includes a camera shoe mount with a 1/4"-20 thread for easy attachment to cameras, camcorders, and other recording devices. Additionally, the microphone features integrated cold shoe mounts on both sides for attaching accessories such as lights, monitors, or additional microphones. The MKE 440 is built to withstand the rigors of professional use, with a durable metal housing that provides protection against impacts, moisture, and environmental factors. Its robust construction ensures long-lasting reliability and performance in demanding recording environments.
